Friendship has got to be the most exciting, fun, adventurous and rewarding feeling of our life. It gives us a safe place to be and helps us through our day to day life.
But as we grow older, we start to view friendships in a more transparent way, which helps us choose the right people for ourselves.
It is important to be surrounded by people who only have the best interest at heart and that do NOT see you as a competition. Although it is nearly impossible for your circle of friends to be consisted purely of the best people out there, you can do a few things to be dealing with the ones that are not so genuine.
Firstly you have to identify them. And that is quite easy: trust your gut feeling. The gut feeling is an instinct we all have and can use. For example, suppose that two people from your school got together and you just know something will happen and sabotage their situation. Your gut feeling simply tells you that relationship will not last.
Another method is analysing the way each one of your friends treats you. You will see how some of them are always happy and ready to celebrate your accomplishments and others do not say anything and resume to silence.
After spotting the fake friend , how do you handle all this? I am going to be honest, it will not be easy, especially if it was a long term connection. It is difficult to put people in the past but sometimes it becomes a necessity. You should distance yourself from people who are putting you under a lot of stress(and yes, fake friends do that even though at that moment you can not tell what is up with you and why you are feeling anxiety and tension).
I am sure you all have heard about Selena Gomez (actress and singer), and about the fact that Francia Raisa (actress and good friend of hers at that time) gifted her a kidney. What shocked all of us is that Selena did not mention their friendship in her documentary, when being asked about industry friends. At the end of the day, we do not know for sure what happened between these two but it sure shows an interesting picture.
