We all heard about Taylor Swift at least once…maybe you heard one of her most popular songs on the radio or saw some teenage girls going crazy over her albums in a music shop, but for sure we all know she has been one of the biggest pop artists this last decade.
Taylor is also known for her handwriting magic. She always seems to know what her listners have been going through, good or bad. Swift is known for writing about all of her exes and the horrible breakups she has been through, but in the last few years she started to tell stories through her songs. The album, “folklore” is full of stories, not only about the artist’s life, but the stories she wrote herself.
Her fandom, the well-known “swifties” gave Taylor Swift the chance to experience many genres like country, pop, indie-pop but also a bit of rock. Although, her strong and sincere handwriting kept her fans close all throught her career. It almost feels like a cult sometimes…imagine a stadium full of 40,000 people yelling each lyric from all the 3 hours and a half long setlist. This is a fact and it just get crazier and crazier at each concert of her ongoing tour “The Eras Tour”, which captures 17 years of music.
Therapy through music feels more and more effective when listening to her songs. Taylor seems to know it all, having a song for each specific feeling that may overcome you; frustration, melancholia, revenge, falling deeply in love, falling apart..you name, she has got it for you. Putting your situation in association with those feelings spoken through songs can make you feels less alone. It can also make you get it all out if that’s what you need. It’s almost like poetry, thinking about how the writer felt while writing those words, what caused those strong feelings and simply realizing that behind this lyrics that everyone talks about is a human being, just like yourself. Connecting through lyrics is just another thing that can help us while going through a situation, feeling like a friend that is trying to tell you “hey, it’s not the end of the world”. A song can be your friend when you feel like nobody around you understands what you are going through.
To sum it up, Taylor Swift can definitely be there for you when you are feeling down, but not only. Pop music is not only about happiness and hiding the truth, it has got more and more intimate in the last few years, giving us the opportunity to know the human behind big screens and all over the world radios.
